"Breanna is someone we've had our eye on for a long time and was a highly-recruited prospect," said Utah coach Greg Marsden. "She is capable of contributing on all four events, but is especially beautiful to watch on beam and bars.
"We feel we found a real diamond in the rough in Haley. In the last year and a half, Haley's improvement has been remarkable. We think she will continue to get better throughout her collegiate career and look forward to being a part of that process," said Marsden.
Hughes is a Junior Olympic National team member and three-time J.O. national runner-up on the uneven bars (2009, 2010 and 2011). She placed third on the bars at the 2008 J.O. Championships and finished fourth in the all-around at both the 2010 and 2011 J.O. Championships. She placed fifth in the all-around at the 2009 J.O.'s.
Hughes competes for the Twin City Twisters, a club owned by her father Mike Hunger, who is one of her four coaches. The others are Sami Wozney, Ben Tobler and Sarah Jantzi. Hughes was elected team captain in 2011 and 2012 and was the club's co-MVP in 2010.
Hughes, a National Honor Society student, attends Totino-Grace High School, where she was honored as the Kathleen Murphy Scholar in 2009 and 2010, and made the `A' honor roll in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
She is the daughter of Michelle and Mike Hunger. Michelle was a competitive figure skater and Mike was a gymnast for the University of Minnesota and former Utah State assistant coach. Her sister Brittane is a ballet major at Utah.

Lange (pronounced lang) qualified for the 2010 and 2011 Junior Olympic Championships and her recent results include a first-place finish on the uneven bars and third-place all-around finish at a 2011 international competition in Guatemala. A 2009 Level 9 regional all-around champion, Lange won the 2010 state Level 10 vault title, while placing fifth in the all-around in 2011.
She trains at the Auburn Gymnastics Center in Auburn, Wash., for coaches Brent Phelps and Peter Flores. She attends Sammamish High School in Bellevue, Wash., and in May 2011, won honorable mention (fourth place) at Washington State University's High School CES Business Plan competition. She is daughter of Mara Ferrari and Ron Lange.
Hughes and Lange will compete for the only school to qualify for 36-consecutive national championships and all 30 NCAA Championships. The Utes have won 10 national championships and have placed in the top-three 22 times. Utah is tied for the most NCAA Super Six appearances with 17 (of 19 total) and is the only school in the country to make the Super Six every year since 2000.
Utah holds every gymnastics attendance record, averaging more than 11,000 fans a home meet for the past 20 years. Utah has led all women's sports in attendance for the last two years, including an NCAA gymnastics record 14,213 spectators a meet in 2010.
