COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Utah junior Generra Nielson was awarded her second Mountain West Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week honor on Tuesday, the conference office announced.

She had 17 strikeouts in 10.0 innings of work and did not allow a run while scattering seven hits. She only issued three walks over the week and now stands 11-10 in 2011.

In the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader at George Mason, a 4-0 victory, Nielson earned the win after going 6.0 innings and not allowing a run on four hits with only one walk and 11 strikeouts. The Patriots only got one runner to third base the entire game.
Nielson, a native of Blanding, Utah, started on the mound for the Utes and worked the first 4.0 innings Wednesday at Georgetown in a 4-1 win. She did not allow an earned run to the Hoyas on three hits to go with six strikeouts and two walks.
