SALT LAKE CITY
The Utah gymnastics team not only made the 2011 NCAA Super Six, it also finished among the nation's best teams academically. Utah's 3.7631 team grade point average in 2010-11 ranked third among the nation's gymnastics teams behind only Southeast Missouri State (3.9118) and Southern Utah (3.8050). Utah was one of just two Super Six teams (Alabama was the other) to place in the top-six academically.
Twelve Utes earned Scholastic All-America honors from the National Collegiate Association of Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC), which compiles the academic rankings. The 2011 Ute Scholastic All-Americans and their GPAs: Cortni Beers (3.92), Nansy Damianova (3.81), Lia Del Priore (3.84), Alyssa Gale (3.77), Hailee Hansen (3.90), Jacquelyn Johnson (3.69), Fumina Kobayashi (3.78), Mary Beth Lofgren (3.87), Corrie Lothrop (3.70), Stephanie McAllister (3.89), Kyndal Robarts (3.71) and Victoria Shanley(3.64).
