LOS ANGELES--
Utah opens NCAA competition tonight in the second semifinal of the day, starting the meet on a 'bye' at 6 p.m. PDT (7 p.m. MDT). The Utes must finish in the top three of their session to advance to tomorrow's Super Six. Vying with the Utes for a berth in Saturday's team finals are Oklahoma, Alabama, UCLA, Michigan and Arkansas. Advancing out of today's first semifinal were Florida (197.775), LSU (197.325) and Georgia (197.150).
After their first round bye, the Utes will start their actual competition on the floor. From there, they'll move to vault, bye, bars and finish on beam. Utah has advanced to a record-tying 18 Super Six finals and is the only team to make every Super Six since 2000.
