Utah Athletics will host the 'Paint the Town Red' pep rally in conjunction with Food Truck Thursday on Gallivan Avenue on September 5th from 11:00 a.m - 2:00 p.m. The 2013 football tunnel will be available for fans to run through, while multiple promotional tents will be set up with student-athletes, coaches and the spirit squad handing out promotional items.
The Utah bookstore will also have a kiosk on hand.
'Paint the Town Red' is designed to give downtown businesses an opportunity to show their support for the U during the 2013 football season by decorating their business or storefront.
"We view our athletics department as an extension of the community and this partnership with the downtown businesses is a great example of the community coming together," said Utah Director of Athletics Dr. Chris Hill. "College football games provide a unique entertainment opportunity for residents, visitors, University students and faculty, and we think painting the town red will be fun for everyone."
SWOOP will visit participating 'Paint the Town Red' businesses with the cheer and dance squads on September 24th to show appreciation for downtown retailers and restaurants with University of Utah decorations.
