SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The University of Utah golf team teed of the first two rounds of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic Monday at the Talking Stick Golf Club North Course. After eliminating two swings from its first round score in the second round, Utah currently sits in fourth while three Utes managed to find themselves in the top 20 of the standings.
Junior Casey Halliday led the squad through the first day with a two-under first round of 69, followed by a one-over 71 in the second round to tie for 11th. Senior Daniel Engle finished out the day with just one more swing than Halliday to tie for 16th while sophomore Jonathon Thomas tied for 18th after going one-over-par overall.
Senior Benjamin Bankhead also found success in Utah's lineup and posted a 142 to tie for 21st while junior Jack Maerki rounds out the roster in 97th place.
The final round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic will begin Tuesday at the Talking Stick North Course with a 7:30 a.m. PT shotgun start. Live scoring will continue to be available at golfstat.com.
