SALT LAKE CITY--
The Pac-12 Networks' winter sports programming was finalized today and all of Utah's regular season gymnastics meets will be held in prime time on Friday or Saturday. The defending Pac-12 champion Utes will make seven network television appearances and the remainder of their meets will be lived streamed on Pac-12.com or ESPN3 (with the possible exception of the NCAA Regionals).
The 2015 Utes will kick off the 40th season in program history on the road against Brigham Young on Friday, Jan. 9. The 40-year milestone will be celebrated a month later, when alumnae from the 39 previous teams return to the Huntsman Center for the Arizona State meet on Feb. 6. Other highlights of the home schedule include meets against national contenders UCLA (Jan. 23), Stanford (Feb. 21) and Michigan (Mar. 6), while the road schedule features a non-conference showdown at Georgia (Mar. 14). Utah, UCLA, Stanford, Michigan and Georgia comprised nearly half of the NCAA Championships' field last April.
Postseason competition begins on Mar. 21 at the 2015 Pac-12 Championships hosted by Arizona State. The NCAA Regional Championships on Apr. 4 will be held on college campuses in six cities: Berkeley, Calif., Norman, Okla., Auburn, Ala., Morgantown, W. Va., Ames, Iowa and Columbus, Ohio. The 2015 NCAA Championships are Apr. 17-19 in the Ft. Worth Convention Arena in Ft. Worth, Texas. Utah has qualified for a record 39-consecutive national championships heading into this season.
Representing the 2015 Utes in their quest to add to the program's 10 national championships are nine returning letterwinners and four freshmen. Among the returners are six All-Americans, including 2014 Pac-12 all-around champion Tory Wilson, 2014 Pac-12 Specialist of the Year Georgia Dabritz (also a four-time Pac-12 event champion) and 2012 Pac-12 all-around champion Corrie Lothrop. Greg Marsden, who along with co-head coach Megan Marsden was named the 2014 Pac-12 Coach of the Year, has been Utah's head coach since the program's inception and last year became the sport's first 1,000-win coach.
Season tickets for the nation's attendance leader are on sale now at UtahUtes.com or by calling 801-581-UTIX. Utah broke its own national gymnastics attendance record last year by leading all women's sports with a home meet attendance average of 14,376. It marked the 30th gymnastics attendance title and the fourth all-women's sports attendance title for the Utes.
Fans will get their first chance to see the 2015 Utes at the annual Red Rocks Preview on Friday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center. Admission to the popular event is free.
