PULLMAN, Wash. - The University of Utah golf team finished the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate Tuesday at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club with a score of 855 (273-279-303) to finish in ninth place. Junior Jonathon Thomas continued to lead the Utes in player standings as he captured a fourth-place finish.
Thomas' first-round mark of 62 marked a tournament record and also tied the course record. He finished out the tournament with a four-under-par score of 206 (62-70-74), while junior Max McGrail tied for 30th with a four-over mark of 214 (69-68-77). Junior Jose Pelayo tied for 42nd with a score of 217 (70-71-76). Junior Brandon Kida posted a 219 (72-70-77) to tie for 47th and junior Gentry Hicks tied for 60th with a score of 221 (73-72-76). In individual standings, junior Brent Pollock tied for 70th with a mark of 226 (76-71-79).
The Utes return to action next week as they host their only home tournament of the season at The Jeremy Golf Club in Park City, Utah, Monday and Tuesday.
