SALT LAKE CITY -
The two-time defending Pac-12 champion Utah gymnastics team will get a taste of competition on Friday when it conducts a Red-White intra-squad meet. The practice meet will begin at 2 p.m. in the Dumke Center and is open to the public.
It is the second of three intra-squad meets leading up to the Red-White Preview on Dec. 11. The structure of Friday's intra-squad has the teams conducting a 15-minute warm-up and then performing alternating routines on vault and bars. Another 15-minute warm-up will precede competition on beam and floor.
The gymnasts will perform full routines everywhere but on floor, where they will warm up all three tumbling passes, but will perform only the last pass in competition (after watering down the first and second passes).
As will be the case during the season, the coaches will be Tom Farden on vault and bars, Megan Marsden on beam and Meredith Paulicivic on floor. Student coach Georgia Dabritz, the 2015 NCAA uneven bar champion, is assisting Farden with the bars.
Fans attending the practice meet will see a renovated Dumke Center, whose improvements include all new equipment in the beam area (beams, mats, blocks), the hanging of Utah's 2015 Pac-12 Championship and NCAA runner-up banners and a new Block U-themed Jacuzzi with hot and cold tubs in the adjacent training room.

"We use this meet to groom people for various positions in the lineup," explains Marsden, who is preparing for her seventh season as the co-head coach and her 32nd year overall on the staff. "We are looking for consistency under pressure and our four freshmen, in particular, need practice rounds in front of fans."
