Under the direction of new co-head coaching tandem Megan Marsden and Tom Farden, the Utah gymnastics team will hold its annual Red Rocks Preview on Friday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center. Admission and parking is free to the popular intra-squad meet and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for spectators to watch warm-ups. All seating at the event is general admission.
The team will sign posters after the meet--one of two autograph sessions planned for the coming season.
The first 2,500 spectators will receive a 2016 Utah gymnastics schedule magnet and a pack of Utah gymnastics trading cards. Season ticket holders may pick up their exclusive "Back-to-Back Pac-12 Champions" light-up rings in the Huntsman Center lounge prior to the start of the meet, using the voucher included in their season ticket package.
Other pre-meet events include a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus to the Kids Zone, where there will also be a poster-making station, face painting and balloon artist.
The 2016 Utah gymnastics team will be introduced with a fireworks display and will then divide into two teams for a non-scoring competition.
Season tickets will be on sale at the preview for as low as $40 in the lower bowl and available seats will be marked. Tickets may also be purchased at UtahUtes.com or by calling 801-581-UTIX. The season ticket count to start the week stands at 7,085. The five-meet home schedule includes BYU (Jan. 8), Oregon State (Jan. 23), Arizona (Feb. 1), Washington (Feb. 13) and Georgia (Mar. 12).
Fans at the preview will recognize nine letterwinners, among them All-Americans Kailah Delaney, Breanna Hughes, Kassandra Lopez, Kari Lee and Samantha Partyka.
Making their Ute debut will be freshmen Shannon McNatt, MaKenna Merrell, Erika Muhaw and Sabrina Schwab. Their credentials include several high finishes at the Junior Olympic Championships and two elite qualifiers (McNatt and Schwab).
