COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Utah's Adora Anae has been named one of 36 athletes selected to participate in the U.S. Collegiate National Team program, as well as an alternate for the USA Junior National Team, USA Volleyball announced this past week.
Anae, who just completed her first season with the Utah volleyball program, will train and compete with the other selected athletes in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championships from June 21-29 in New Orleans, La. This marks the fourth consecutive year that USA Volleyball will have its U.S. Collegiate National Team program represented at the USAV Girls' Junior National Championships.
"This is a great opportunity for Adora to play high level volleyball during the summer," said Utah head volleyball coach Beth Launiere. "We are excited and proud of Adora for being selected, and to be able to represent both USA and The University of Utah Volleyball Programs."
In just her first season with the Utes, Anae started 17 of the 32 matches she played in, while registering 280 kills (2.46/set), 129 digs (1.13/set) and 70 total blocks (10 solo, 50 assisted). Following the regular season, Anae was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.
Anae tallied 30 kills (3.75/set) in Utah's two NCAA Tournament matches this past fall, while also recording 15 digs and five total blocks. She set a career-high with 20 kills in Utah's second-round match against No. 11-ranked Nebraska.
After the training portion of the program, the 36 athletes, who hail from 25 different schools across the country, will be divided into three equal teams that will compete in a round-robin event June 26-29. The round-robin event may include an additional team to increase the field to four teams that would complete June 25-29.
Earlier this month the U.S. Collegiate National Team program selected rosters to compete in the World University Games and a Tour of China. In total, 60 athletes have been selected into the CNT program, which is part of the USA Volleyball High Performance pipeline. This program is considered a second tryout for the U.S. Women's National Team.
