SALT LAKE CITY--Utah senior All-Americans Georgia Dabritz and Kristiina Rove been named to the Capital One Academic All-District At-Large first team. They are now placed on the Capital One Academic All-America ballot. The All-America teams will be announced on June 11.
Dabritz is a 16-time All-America gymnast, who last month won the NCAA uneven bar championship and led her team to a runner-up finish at the 2015 NCAA Championships. The 2015 Pac-12 Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the AAI Award winner as the top senior gymnast in the nation, Dabritz carries a 3.79 cumulative GPA while pursuing dual bachelor degrees in health, society and policy and health education. She is a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree and a two-time NACGC Scholar All-American.
An eight-time NCAA Regional champion and six-time Pac-12 champion, Dabritz won every major Pac-12 award during her career--Gymnast of the Year (2015), Scholar-Athlete of the Year (2015), Specialist of the Year (2014) and Freshman of the Year (2012) --while leading Utah to back-to-back Pac-12 Championships in 2014 and 2015.
Rove, a three-time All-America skier in the giant slalom (2013-15), was the 2014 RMISA women's alpine MVP. She has a 3.98 grade point average in business administration. The three-time All-RMISA skier helped Utah to a third-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Championships.
Rove is a member of Utah's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was twice named to the National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team. She competed at the FIS Alpine World Championships in 2015 in the slalom and giant slalom races.
The duo was up against student-athletes from 13 sports for a place on the Academic All-America All-District at-large team. The sports include bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo.
The Capital One Academic teams are selected through voting by CoSIDA, a 2,000-member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
