BOISE, Idaho- The University of Utah women's track and field team wrapped up another solid weekend of competition at the Idaho-Utah Border Clash, Payton Jordan Invitational and Longhorn Invitational with six Utes recording personal-best performances.Â
"We definitely made the most of it this weekend," Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. "I thought that we had a very productive weekend and we are excited to continue moving forward. This weekend was great preparation for conference championship season. With finals coming up this week, we will continue to prepare for conference, but with a little extra rest. We want to allow our athletes to recover from all of the activities that finals bring about."Â
Getting the Idaho-Utah Border Clash underway in the 1500-meter race was senior Nicole Rietz. Rietz recorded a new personal-best time of 4:29.87 to beat out Boise State's Tessa Murray to capture the event title.Â
The 800-meter run featured four Utes finishing in the top-15. Leading the charge for the Utes was sophomore Grace Englund. Englund crossed the line in a personal-best time of 2:10.58 to finish third overall. Junior Alisson Aafedt also recorded a new personal record, finishing sixth in a time of 2:11.87. Sophomore Makenzie Clark recorded a time of 2:14.07 to claim tenth and Hannah McInturff followed in 13th-place with a time of 2:14.73.Â
Representing Utah in the 3000-meter steeplechase were sophomores Becky Sarmiento and Dana Snell. Sarmiento finished first for Utah and fourth overall after recording a time of 11:10.85. Snell followed closely behind in sixth with a time of 11:25.21Â
Sophomore Megan Meier competed in the 400 for Utah. Meier recorded a time of 58.04 seconds to earn seventh overall.Â
Sophomore Alissa Atisme continued her streak of impressive performances in the 100 and 200-meter races for the Utes. In the 100, Atisme placed fourth overall, recording a time of 11.90 seconds. In the 200, Atisme crossed the line in third-place in a time of 24.16 seconds.Â
The 400-meter hurdles featured two Utes recording new personal records. Sophomore Christine Van Brocklin finished with a time of 1:02.14 to capture fifth and Madison Lanford placed ninth with a time of 1:03.62. Van Brocklin also competed in the 100-meter hurdles for the Utes, earning ninth with a time of 14.87 seconds.Â
Meanwhile at the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, two Utes competed.Â
In the hammer throw, Ilse Kaaja finished third overall after throwing a distance of 192 feet, 2 inches.Â
Sophomore Megan Glasmann competed in the javelin for Utah where she recorded a throw measuring 146 feet, 7 inches to claim fifth.Â
Freshman Sarah Feeny represented Utah at the Payton Jordan Invitational, competing in the 1500-meter. Feeny recorded a new lifetime best time of 4:18.24 to place seventh in section three.Â
The Utes will compete next at the Weber State Twilight on May 6 in Ogden, Utah.
