SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's and women's swim and dive teams will combine to host six different home meets head coach Joe Dykstra announced following the release of the 2015-16 schedule on Monday.
Both the men and women squads will open the 2015-16 campaign hosting BYU (Sept. 26) in a relays-only meet before the women's team opens Pac-12 competition against USC in a two-day meet that will take place Oct. 2 and 3 at Ute Natatorium.
The following weekend, Utah will host its annual Alumni Meet on Oct. 10 - which coincides with Homecoming Weekend - prior to both squads heading to the Bay Area to face both California (Oct. 15) and Stanford (Oct. 16) in Pac-12 action.
The women's team returns home to host a dual meet with both Boise State and Florida Gulf Coast on Oct. 30. Both teams will then have an extra few weeks to train before heading to College Station, Texas, to compete in the Art Adamson Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M. Utah's women will then close out the 2015 portion of the schedule with a Pac-12 meet at Oregon State (Dec. 5), while the men travel to Green River, Wyo., (halfway between both campuses) to face Wyoming on the dame date.
"This is a very good schedule and it will be a challenging one as well," said Dykstra. "We face BYU, USC, Stanford and Cal all in the first month of the season so we have got to be ready for some very tough competition right off the bat.
"We were very pleased to be invited to the Art Adamson Invitational at Texas A&M. That meet will provide us with both short course and long course racing so we can try and make NCAA cuts, and also Olympic Trials Time Standards in November."
Utah will open the 2016 portion of the schedule with both the men and women's teams hosting UCLA, while the women host Boise State for a second time in a two-day meet that will run Jan. 15-16. Both the men's and women's diving teams will head to Los Angeles that same weekend to compete in the UCLA Diving Invitational, which takes place Jan. 16-18.
Both men and women's squads will then head down to Provo for a Deseret First Duel meet with BYU (Jan. 23) before heading to Denver, Colo., to face the Pioneers (Jan. 29). The diving teams will head to Colorado Springs, Colo., just a week later to compete in the Air Force Diving Invitational (Feb. 5-6).
The women's squad will return home to host Washington State (Feb. 13) in the final regular-season meet of the year, while the men host USC (Feb. 19-20) for its final meet of the regular-season, as well.
The women's Pac-12 Championships, along with the men's and women's Pac-12 Diving Championships will get underway Feb. 24 and run through Feb. 27, while the men's Pac-12 Championships begin just a week later (March 2-5). All three events will be held in Federal Way, Wash., for a second-straight year.
NCAA Zone E Diving Championships will be held March 7-9 in Flagstaff, Ariz., while both the women's NCAA Championships (March 17-19) and men's NCAA Championships (March 24-26) will be held in Atlanta, Ga.
