CLE ELUM, Wash. - The Utah men's golf team returns to action next Monday and Tuesday, competing as one of 14 teams at the Husky Invitational in Cle Elum, Wash. The two-day, 54-hole event will be hosted by the University of Washington.
Utah will compete as a team at Tumble Creek Club at Suncadia Resort, while a trio of individuals will compete in a separate event at Prospector Golf Course, which is also located inside the Suncadia Resort complex.
Brandon Kida, Jose Pelayo, Jonathon Thomas, Gentry Hicks and Brent Pollock will comprise Utah's five-man team at Tumble Creek, while Steven Croft, Trent Hill and Nathan Wunderli compete as individuals at Prospector.
Both the five-man team and individual golfers will play the first two rounds on Monday before closing out competition on Tuesday. Utah's five-man team will open the first round at the No. 10 tee, with the first golfer teeing off at 7:59 a.m. PT and two more groups following at 8:11 a.m. and 8:23 a.m. PT. The Utes will also tee off from the No. 10 tee in round two, with tee times set for 1:29 p.m., 1:41 p.m. and 1:53 p.m. PT. Individual tee times for Monday will be announced later this weekend.
The Utes are coming off a 13th-place finish this past week at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo., after carding a 22-over par, 866 (295-291-299) over the two-day event. Pelayo led the squad with top-20 finish, carding a three-round score of 1-over par, 217 (74-73-70) in a tie for 18th-place. Kida followed with a score of 2-over par, 218 (73-73-72) and finished tied for 22nd-place. Thomas (DQ), Hicks (+9, 225) and Croft (+12, 228) rounded out Utah's team scoring last week, while Pollack (+7, 223) competed as an individual.
Hill and Wunderli will be competing for the first time this season.
Utah finished in 12th-place in a field of 15 teams at the Husky Invitational last season. Kida led the way for the Utes, carding a 5-over par, 221 (72-76-73) and finishing in a tie for 17th-place.
Along with Utah and Washington, other teams competing in the Husky Invitational include Washington State, UC-Davis, Oregon, USC, Boise State, Gonzaga, Minnesota, Sacramento State, Seattle, BYU, Idaho and Oregon State.
