Utah Student-Athletes Succeed in Classroom During Fall Semester

SALT LAKE CITY -- University of Utah student-athletes combined to post a 3.027 grade-point-average for the 2015 fall term to extend the current school-record streak to 19 consecutive semesters with an overall GPA above a 3.0.
More than half of Utah's student-athletes (55.93%) qualified for the Athletic Director's Honor Roll while over a quarter (25.73%) were named to the Dean's List, which requires at least a 3.5 GPA.
Gymnastics turned in the highest GPA in the department at 3.719 and was closely followed by women’s skiing (3.708). Gymnastics also placed all of its student-athletes on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
The women's ski team placed 75-percent of its members on the Dean's List, the highest percentage in the department, while the football team had the most Dean's List (15) and Athletic Director's Honor Roll (43) honorees.
Women's tennis, golf and men’s basketball had the greatest single-semester improvement, raising their respective GPA’s by three percentage points each since the spring of 2015. Men’s skiing and men’s basketball had the biggest jumps for the full academic year.
