SALT LAKE CITY—The University of Utah athletics department and Under Armour today announced a 10-year partnership extension that designates Under Armour as the official outfitter of Utah's varsity intercollegiate athletic programs through June of 2027.Â
Â
The global leader in performance footwear, apparel and equipment will continue to design and supply the footwear and apparel for Utah's 18-sport varsity men's and women's athletic program. In addition to outfitting Utah's athletics department, the comprehensive partnership also includes marketing integration, grassroots activations, student internship opportunities and student-athlete scholarship support from Under Armour.
Â
"We're thrilled to continue our relationship with Under Armour," said Utah Director of Athletics Chris Hill. "The relationship has been positive from all angles—first and foremost the many ways it benefits our student-athletes."
Â
"The University of Utah has been a long-standing partner of the Under Armour brand since 2008 as one of our first all-school partnerships," said Nick Carparelli, Senior Director of College Sports, Under Armour. "They have been an integral building block of our brand's growth in collegiate athletics and we look forward to outfitting the Utes in innovative footwear, apparel and equipment for the next decade and beyond."
Â
Utah and Under Armour began their partnership in 2008—the year the Ute football team beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl and finished with a No. 2 national ranking and a 13-0 record. That initial five-year contract was extended for another five years in 2011.
Â
The Utes are in their sixth year as members of the Pac-12 Conference and are coming off a 2015-16 campaign that saw baseball win the Pac-12 Championship and football tie for the Pac-12 South Division title. The baseball, men's basketball and softball teams all qualified into the NCAA Tournament, with baseball and men's basketball winning first round games and softball advancing to the Super Regionals. The football team beat BYU in the Las Vegas Bowl to finish with a 10-3 record and a top-20 ranking (No. 17 AP, No. 16 Coaches). The women's gymnastics team, which won back-to-back Pac-12 Championships in 2014-15, has made the NCAA Championships every year and placed second in the nation in 2015.
