Four Utes qualify for NCAA Zones in first meet of season
HONOLULU, Hawai'i- Utah's diving team had a solid showing Saturday against Hawaii as Amanda Casillas took first in two events and four student-athletes qualified for NCAA Zones.
"We had a great training camp this week and finished it off with a great meet versus Hawaii today," said Utah head diving coach Richard Marschner. "The divers worked extremely hard throughout the week, yet they still found a way to dig deep and perform really well today. It's a promising start to the season to see us diving this well, this early."
Casillas took first in both the three-meter and the one-meter. On the three-meter, she came out with a total score of 295.60 while on the one-meter, she tallied a score of 295.60. Lauren Hall took second in both events (three-meter, 281.35; one-meter, 251.80).
Josiah Purss also had a top finish for the Utes. He took home the win in the one-meter event with a total score of 329.65. Connor Cain followed in second (308.50). Purss also took second in the three-meter (345.95) with Cain in third (281.45).
The Utes will host Arizona State and Arizona this upcming Friday and Saturday, Oct 21-22.
