Los Angeles, Calif.- Josiah Purss took first on the one-meter event during the first day of competition at the UCLA Diving Invitational.
Purss tallied a total score of 641.55 on the one-meter. Daniel Theriault was sixth in the event (533.10).
"Josiah had a solid meet to win against some tough competition today at the UCLA invite and he is tracking to do really well at Pac-12s," said Utah head diving coach Richard Marschner.
On the women's side, Lauren Hall took seventh on the three-meter event coming away with a total score of 546.35. There were 36 entries in the event.
"Lauren was very consistent today and continues to prove herself in big competitions."
The Utes continue competition tomorrow with the women's platform and men's three-meter event. Finals are to begin at 11:45 a.m.
