This Week in Utah Gymnastics
Utah has earned the No. 2 seed for the 2017 Pac-12 Gymnastics Championship on Saturday, Mar. 18 in Stanford, Calif. The Utes will compete in the evening session at 6 p.m. PDT (7 p.m. MDT) along with No. 1 seed UCLA, No. 3 seed Oregon State and No. 4 seed Washington. Competing in the early session in Maples Pavilion are seeds 5-8 (California, Arizona, Stanford, Arizona State) at 1 p.m. PDT/2 p.m. MDT. In the Rankings
Utah is No. 5 in the national rankings for the fifth straight week. The Utes have been ranked in the top six all season. This week's top five by regional qualifying score (RQS) are: Oklahoma (198.000), LSU (197.785), UCLA (197.500), Florida (197.495) and Utah (197.355). MyKayla Skinner is ranked No. 2 in the all-around (39.650 RQS), No. 3 on floor (9.95), No. 8 on vault (9.915), No. 13 on bars (9.90) and No. 25 on beam (9.895). Baely Rowe is ranked No. 9 in the all-around (39.485), No. 11 on beam (9.910) and No. 18 on floor (9.905). See sidebar on page 3 for Utah's complete national rankings.
 
Quick Sticks
Utah finished the regular season with a 10-2 overall record and tied for first in the Pac-12 with UCLA with a 5-1 conference mark. It is Utah's fourth-straight Pac-12 regular-season title … Utah will learn its NCAA Regional destination on Monday, Mar. 20 on the NCAA selection show at 2 p.m. MT. The six regional sites are Seattle; Gainesville, Fla.; Fayetteville, Ark; Champaign, Ill.; Lincoln, Neb. and Morgantown, W. Va. See "Road to Nationals" for more … Utah averaged an NCAA gymnastics record 15,224 fans a meet at home this year to lead all NCAA women's sports teams in attendance. Utah's 2017 all-sport women's attendance title is its seventh all time and fourth in a row. The Ute gymnasts were also the nation's top drawing team in all of women's sports in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. Utah's newly minted NCAA season gymnastics attendance record broke the old mark (also held by the Utes) of 14,950 set in 2015.
 
Pac-12 Championship Notes
The rotation order for the teams at the Pac-12 Championship has not yet been announced. Utah will get the second rotation choice after UCLA … Public practices will be held on Friday, Mar. 17 in Maples Pavilion at 1:00 and 3:30 p.m. PT. Utah will practice in the 3:30 p.m. session … Teams and individual places at the Pac-12 Championship are determined by score, regardless of session. Capsules on all eight teams in the Pac-12 Championships can be found on page 4 of this release … Three teams have claimed a Pac-12 Championship: Utah (2014, 2015), UCLA (2012, 2016) and Oregon State (2013). The Utes won both the regular season and tournament titles in 2014 and 2015 … Utah is only team to finish in the top three all five years of the Pac-12 Gymnastics Championship, including two first place and two second place finishes ... Four of the five Pac-12 all-around champions crowned to date have been Utes: Corrie Lothrop (2012), Tory Wilson (2014), Georgia Dabritz (2015) and Breanna Hughes (2016) … Utah owns the top two scores at a Pac-12 Championship: 198.150 in 2015 and 197.925 in 2014 … Utah holds the Pac-12 Championship attendance record for single session (14,402) and combined session (23,568), set in 2015.

Five of the eight Pac-12 teams are ranked in the nation's top 25: No. 3 UCLA (197.500 RQS), No. 5 Utah (197.355), No. 10 Oregon State (196.875), No. 15 Washington (196.480) and No. 16 California (196.400) … Three Pac-12 teams qualified into the NCAA Championships last year: Utah, UCLA and Stanford … Utah is 348-61-5 (85%) all-time against Pac-12 teams. Utah's series record against each team follows: Arizona (59-0-0), Arizona State (72-16-1), California (18-1-0), Oregon State (65-10-1), Stanford (29-6-0), UCLA (52-28-1) and Washington (53-0-2).
 
Winner Skinner
Ute freshman MyKayla Skinner won nine of 10 regular season all-around and vault titles. She ranks seventh all time at Utah in single-season wins (34) and is tied for third for most all-around wins in a season (9). Skinner is the most decorated (single-season) Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week of all time—winning the award a record seven times in her first season and shattering the old record of four held by several gymnasts. Her seven awards is also a Utah career record. Skinner has been named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week five times.
 
Ute Insider
All-American Baely Rowe is Utah's lone senior … Rowe will return to the all-around lineup at the Pac-12 Championship. Rowe sat out of vault and floor last week to rest her legs … Sophomore Kari Lee is in contention for an all-around berth after winning the all-around last week at Georgia with a 39.450 … Sophomore All-American and 2016 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Sabrina Schwab (knee) and freshman Kim Tessen (ankle) are out for the season with injuries. Schwab was competing in the all-around, while Tesson had started on three events … Ute individual event/all-around winners: Skinner (34), Baely Rowe (8), MaKenna Merrell (6), Kari Lee (4),Tiffani Lewis (2), Missy Reinstadtler (1) … The Utes are 230-240 in hit routines (routines without a fall), including 24-24 against Washington, Oregon State and UCLA … Gymnasts who have hit every routine are Skinner (40-40), Macey Roberts (15-15), Maddy Stover (10-10), Sabrina Schwab (8-8), Kim Tessen (7-7), Shannon McNatt (3-3) and Erika Muhaw (2-2).
