SALT LAKE CITY - Utah will send four competitors to the 2017 NCAA Men's Swimming Championships this Wednesday, March 22 through Saturday, March 25 in Indianapolis. Junior Paul Ungur, sophomores Daniel McArthur and Austin Phillips as well as diver Josiah Purss will represent the Utes.

This will be Purss's fourth time competing at the Championships and it will be the first time for Ungur, McArthur and Phillips.

The last time Utah sent this many athletes to the NCAA's was in the 2014-15 season.

Ungur will be swimming in the 100 back as well as the 50 free. In the 100 back, he qualified with his time of 45.69, which he set at the Pac-12 Championships earlier this month. His time is the fourth fastest in the Pac-12 and the 18th fastest in the nation. He has won this event two times this season.

McArthur will also be swimming in the 100 back and the 200 back. His time of 1:41.66 in the 200 back ranks in the top 30 for the NCAA and is an NCAA 'B' cut consideration time. He has one win in the 100 back and one in the 200. He also has four top-five finishes.

Joining McArthur in the 200 back is Phillips. He will compete in that event as well as the 200 free and 200 IM. His time of 1:34.20, which he set at the 2017 Pac-12 Championships, ranks in the top-10 in Pac-12 competition. He has two wins in the event as well as six top-10 finishes.

Purss qualified in the one-meter and the three-meter events. He took fifth in the one-meter with a total score of 648.55 and sixth on the three-meter (700.10) at the NCAA Zone Championships.

At last year's NCAA's, he competed in the same events. He took 11th on the one-meter (357.95) and 22nd on the three-meter (255.95). He had one of the top scores of any Pac-12 competitors in the three-meter.

On the one-meter event, he has tallied up six wins this season while on the three-meter, he has four wins.
