INDIANAPOLIS—Three days after finishing fifth at the 2017 NCAA Championships, the Utah gymnastics team got more good news when the NCAA announced that the University of Utah will host an NCAA Regional in 2021. The U. was previously awarded a bid to host regionals in 2018.

As the host school, the Utes are guaranteed a berth in the 2018 and 2021 Salt Lake City Regional upon qualifying. The dates for the Salt Lake City gymnastics regionals are Apr. 7, 2018 and Apr. 3, 2021 in the Huntsman Center.

Utah has hosted 13 previous NCAA regional gymnastics championships, most recently in 2016. The Huntsman Center was also a regional gymnastics venue in 1984, 1986, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1996, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2010 and 2012.

There are six regional sites around the country and two teams from each site advance to the NCAA Championships, which will be held in St. Louis next year and in Ft. Worth, Texas from 2019-22.
