Hansen Earns All-America Honors from Sporting News

Linebacker is named to the second team.

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah senior linebacker Chase Hansen continues to add to his All-America honors with his selection to the Sporting News second team today.  Hansen, also a second-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America and The Athletic, is the first linebacker in Utah history to earn All-America honors.
Utah's tackle leader with 114 stops, Hansen leads the Pac-12 and ranks fifth in the nation in total TFL (22.0). He is tied for fourth nationally in tackles for loss per game (1.7) and tied for fourth in the Pac-12 with 5.0 sacks. He has recorded at least 10 tackles in six games this season and has led or tied for the team tackle high in nine of Utah's 13 games.
Hansen is a two-time Pac-12 Player of the Week (vs. Northern Illinois and USC). He was the Chuck Bednarik Award National Player of the Week and Rose Bowl Game Pac-12 Player of the Week after Utah's win at Northern Illinois. He was the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week vs. Oregon and BYU.
Hansen has 164 career solo tackles, which is tied for seventh all-time at Utah, and 272 career tackles.
Hansen is the 16th player in program history to earn Sporting News All-America honors.
