CINCINNATI—Utah's incoming gymnastics class made a big impression at the 2018 Junior Olympic National Championships last weekend, winning a gold and silver medal and placing two on the USA Junior Olympic National team.
Â
Cristal Isa was the national champion on the uneven bars in the Senior E Division and tied for fourth in the all-around with fellow future Ute Adrienne Randall. Randall won the silver on the balance beam. Both were named to the J.O. National team—Isa for a second year.
Â
Isa is now a two-time J.O. national champion having won the bar title in the Junior B Division in 2017. Randall was a 2017 J.O. national champion on the balance beam (Senior C Division).
Â
Two other 2018-19 Ute recruits also fared well at the J.O. Nationals. Hunter Dula placed ninth in the all-around and tied for fourth on bars in the Senior B Division and Cammie Hall tied for 11th on vault in the Senior E Division.
Â
"Our future Utes did an amazing job at J.O. Nationals," said Ute co-head coach
Tom Farden, who attended the meet. "This will be a great springboard into their careers here at Utah and we are really looking forward to them joining us this summer. They showed at J.O.'s that they will all be high-level competitors at the NCAA level."
