Halasz Promoted to Associate Head Coach

Seattle native enters sixth season with team

SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Soccer announced the promotion of Scott Halasz to associate head coach this afternoon

"Scott is an invaluable asset to our soccer program," head coach Rich Manning said. "He brings fantastic coaching skills to the field each day and has worked voraciously to become an expert on the different aspects involved in running a college soccer program competing in the Pac-12. He is very deserving of this title and I know he is looking forward to a great 2018."

"I just want to thank Coach Manning for this opportunity," Halasz stated. "The staff and players I have worked with during my time here has helped me grow and develop as a coach. I look forward to continuing our journey together as we build Utah into a Pac-12 power."

Halasz, entering his sixth season on the Utah staff, spent the past five years as an assistant coach. The Utes made the NCAA Tournament in his first season, 2013, and then helped them to the best finish in program history during the 2016 campaign.

Halasz has worked with eight All-Pac-12 performers and six United Soccer Coaches All-Region honorees that include current Utes Hailey Skolmoski, Paola van der Veen and Tavia Leachman

The Seattle native joined the Utes after serving as an assistant at Pacific Lutheran University. Halasz has over 20 years of coaching experience and also served as a coach with the Washington Premier soccer club. He was also the Washington Premier ECNL Director and coached numerous Washington state ODP and EDP teams.

A men's soccer assistant coach at Tacoma Community College from 2005-07, Halasz graduated from Seattle University in 2003.
