The University of Utah men's golf program has two true freshmen on the roster this season, both coming to Salt Lake City from outside the United States. Freshman Javier Barcos comes to Utah from Estella, Spain where he attended the Blume National Golf School in León.
He ranked as high as third in the Spain U18 rankings and tied for fifth at the 2018 Spanish International U18 Stroke Play Championship. He also placed 17th at the 2018 Boys Amateur Championship and the 2018 Copa Andalucia.
Starting early with golf... "One of my earliest memories of golf was playing three holes with my grandfather."

"It was really good. I have very good memories about going on walks with my whole family."

"They have never watched me play, but they have always supported me."
Who he takes after most...
"I would say my mom because she is the one that has supported me the most."
Why he loves golf...
"I fell in love with golf because I played with my grandfather and I always had a really good time."
After college...
"I would like to turn into a professional golfer."
Something people don't know about him...
"I am color blind."
Why Utah...
"It is a great university and the golf team is awesome."
Favorite part about playing golf at Utah so far...
"I have only been playing at the U. for two months, but my favorite part is playing with my new teammates, trying to win with them and having a good time with them."
