Women's Basketball Lands Two On Pac-12 All-Academic Teams

SAN FRANCISCO – The University of Utah women's basketball program was honored for its hard work off the court this season by landing two players on the 2019 Pac-12 All-Academic teams. 

Dru Gylten earned a spot on the second-team with Erika Bean earning honorable mention status for the third straight season. Gylten is the fifth player in program history to land on the first or second all-academic teams, with the Utes garnering 33 overall selections to the first, second or honorable mention teams since joining the league. 

Gylten and Bean combined for two of the best passers in the country this season. The Utes are the only team in the country that has two players ranked in the top-30 nationally in total assists with Bean ranking 19thand Gylten sitting at 29thwith both ranking in the top-four in the Pac-12. 

Gylten, a two-time Pac-12 freshman of the week who is holding a 3.93 GPA, had five or more assists in 22 of the 30 games this season, including her two double-digit assist games against Seattle U and Arizona (11, 10). She scored in double-digits in 10 games, including her 24 points against USC which is second-most scored by a freshman in the league in regular season play. 

Bean, who is looking to graduate with a degree in Kinesiology and has a 3.48 GPA, has been a mainstay for the Utes on and off the court, playing in 126 career games (91 starts) and has been on the Utah Honor Roll every semester she's been at the U.

She has led the Utes in assists in 71 career games, averaging 4.2 assists per game which ranks in the top-10 all-time at Utah. She ranks fourth all-time in career assists, sitting with 542.
