SAN FRANCISCO—Led by first-team selection Shannon McNatt and second-team members Missy Reinstadtler and MyKayla Skinner, the Ute gymnastics team placed nine student-athletes on the 2019 Pac-12 All-Academic teams announced today by the conference office.
McNatt, a senior beam specialist, maintains a 3.99 cumulative grade point average with a double major in quantitative analysis of markets and organizations (QAMO) and economics. McNatt will graduate this spring as a three-time first-team Pac-12 All-Academic selection.
Reinstadtler, a junior all-arounder who is competing only on the uneven bars this season due to injury, is a repeat second-team selection with a 3.79 GPA in biology. Skinner, a junior all-arounder with a 3.78 GPA in communication, is making her second appearance on the All-Academic team (she was first team in 2018). Skinner was named to the Pac-12 All-Conference team yesterday, winning the maximum number of five all-conference awards. Earlier today, she was announced as a regular season first-team All-American in four disciplines.
Earning honorable mention 2019 Pac-12 All-Academic recognition were Kari Lee, MaKenna Merrell-Giles and Macey Roberts, junior Kim Tessen and sophomores Alexia Burch and Sydney Soloski.
Lee and Merrell-Giles are both three-time Pac-12 All-Academic selections (Lee was first team in 2016), while Roberts and Tessen are on the honorable mention team for the second year in a row. Burch and Soloski are honorable mention in their first season eligible.
To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.0 grade point cumulative average, have completed a year of residency at the school and have participated in 50 percent of the regular-season competitions.
