Camp Notes
Junior tight end Connor Haller is retiring for medical reasons and has been placed on a medical scholarship … Six practice sessions—including the 18th-annual Red White game on Apr. 13—remain in spring camp. Prior to 2002, Utah's spring camp concluded with a situational scrimmage rather than a game … For reports on Utah's practices and scrimmages, visit UtahUtes.com … Among the presentations at next week's Red White game is an on-field recognition of the 2019 NCAA Champion Ute ski team. In addition, the 2018-19 Deseret Duel Championship trophy will be presented to Utah (with several spring rivalry games remaining, Utah has already secured the rivalry title).
Going Gold at the Red and White
Fans are encouraged to incorporate gold into their attire at the Red White game on Apr. 13 to promote pediatric cancer awareness (huntsmancancer.org) and support for the Hayes Tough Foundation (hayestough.org). The Hayes Tough Foundation, created by former Ute safety Steve Tate and his wife Savannah, is dedicated to their son Hayes, whom they lost to pediatric brain cancer in December 2016. The Utes will wear helmet decals promoting pediatric cancer awareness and the coaches will wear a patch on their shirts. Five hundred t-shirts and silicon bracelets bearing the logo will be distributed at the gates. The Redzone Campus Store will round up sales at the game and dedicate the proceeds to pediatric cancer research and pediatric cancer patients will be honored.
