FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Utah senior golfer
Kyler Dunkle finished out the NCAA Championships on Monday tied for 28
th place, the highest finish for a Utah player in modern history.
Dunkle shot 7-over-par (79) on the fourth day of play and finished the championships 8-over-par (69-71-77-79=296).
"While Kyler didn't finish the way that he wanted to, placing in the top 30 at one of the best amateur tournaments in the world is awesome," head coach
Garrett Clegg said. "He was tremendous for us this year and set new standards of success for our program."
Dunkle finishes his season with a 71.2 scoring average for the year, which is tied for the Utah school record. He won two tournaments, finished second at the Pac-12 Championships and became the first Utah player to earn All-Pac-12 honors during the season.
Dunkle will begin his professional career on the Mackenzie Tour (PGA Tour Canada).
