SALT LAKE CITY – It was the start of a new week for the Utah football program as they wrapped up their fifth practice of fall camp, donning full pads for the first time.
With the pads added, the physicality of the practice intensified as the Utes did their first "circle drill" of the year.

Head coach Kyle Whittingham also met with the media today after practice, recapping the first week and discussing how the first day in pads went.
On how practice went today…
"It was good. Sometimes when you head into the second week they can look sluggish but that wasn't the case today. They got their work done. Defense definitely had the better day when talking about offense vs. defense. Offense is still a work in progress but we've got a pretty good defense out there, so it will be a test for our offense every single day. They just have to fight through it."
On having Andy Ludwig back with a senior quarterback in Tyler Huntley…
"It is a luxury. Tyler and Andy seem to click very well and it has been a good start. Tyler really fits what Andy is doing, which is by design. You asses the skill set and tailor the offense to fit the quarterback, which I think Andy has done a nice job doing."
On what makes this defensive line special…
"Two things, the first being talent, just raw talent, and the second being depth. We have probably nine or 10 guys that are ready to play and contribute. That is a luxury."
On Zack Moss, Bradlee Anae, Leki Fotu and Jaylon Johnson returning for their senior seasons…
"I think they all made the right decision, especially Leki and Bradlee with them being the high profile guys after last year. There is more to it than just football. There is education and I think where they were projected to get drafted last year and where they potentially can get to this year, it was the right decision."
