Set to add incredible power and athleticism to the Red Rocks, freshman Jaedyn Rucker joins the Utes as the 2018 Junior Olympic national vault champion (Senior B) and as a three-time regional champion and 12-time state champion.
Aside from being named the 2018 J.O. vault champion, Rucker placed second in the all-around, second on floor, fourth on bars, and seventh on beam to round out the event. At the 2018 Arizona State Championships, Rucker swept the field placing first in the all-around and first on every event. Two of Rucker's regional titles came on vault (2017 & 2018 Region 1 Championships), while the other was in the all-around (2017 Region 1 Championships).
Rucker also had a great showing at the 2018 Pikes Peak Cup where she placed first in the all-around, first on vault, and first on floor. An extremely powerful vaulter, Rucker recorded a 10.0 on vault at the event, which is extremely rare at the club level. Another strong vault came at the 2018 Nastia Liukin Cup where Rucker placed second.
Rucker joined the Utes in the summer and is recovering from a knee injury she suffered this past February. Rucker has been rehabbing and working toward returning to full strength. The Mesa, Ariz. native graduated from Desert Ridge High School and trained at Desert Devils Gymnastics. For more information about Rucker's gymnastics career and other personal information, click
