Albuquerque, N.M.- The University of Utah men's golf team finished in fifth at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate today after shooting 9-over par on the final day of the tournament. The Utes finished with a tournament score of 10-over par (874). Â
"As a whole, our team didn't perform at our highest level," head coach Garrett Clegg said. "We had good final rounds from both Blake and Jordan, but overall, we have a lot to clean up before our next tournament. Fortunately, we have a lot of time between events and an ability to get some work in."
Junior Tristan Mandur certified his place in the top 10 after shooting 2-over par in the final round of play. He finished in a tie for ninth after shooting 2-under par (214) for the tournament.
"Tristan had a really good tournament and I'm happy for him there," Clegg said.
Coming in second for Utah was senior Jordan Costello, who climbed the leaderboard by 14 spots to finish tied for 19th. He shot even par today and finished 2-over par for the tournament (218) after improving in each round of play.
Junior Blake Tomlinson also made a big leap in the standings, moving up 17 spots to finish in a tie for 40th as the third highest ranked Ute. Tomlinson shot even par in round three to give him a tournament score of 7-over par (223).
Senior Mitchell Schow also finished tied for 40th after shooting 7-over par on the last day of tournament play. Schow shot 7-over par (223) over the three rounds.
Rounding out the Utes was true freshmen Jesper von Reedtz, who finished in tie for 69th. He carded 14-over par (230) for the tournament after shooting 9-over par in round three.
The Utes will be back in action on October 14 at the Oregon State Invitational in Corvallis, Ore.
