LIHUE, Hawaii – The Utah men's golf team wrapped up play at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate today, finishing in 18
th overall. The team shot 6-over par (294) on the final 18 holes to give them a tournament score of 25-over par (889).
"Hawaii is a great place to visit, but we have a lot to figure out before we play another tournament," head coach
Garrett Clegg said. "Tristan and Mitchell played OK today, but overall this was not our best performance."
Senior
Mitchell Schow was Utah's highest finisher, tying for 47
th overall after shooting even par (72) in the final round to give him a tournament score of 4-over par (220).
Juniors
Tristan Mandur and
Blake Tomlinson finished tied for 76
th and 81
st, respectively, with Mandur being the only Ute under par in the final 18. He shot 1-under par (71) in the third round with a total score of 223 (7-over) while Tomlinson shot 3-over par (75) through 18 holes today, finishing with a tournament score of 8-over par (224).
Rounding out the team was sophomore
Axel Einarsson and redshirt freshman
Oscar Maxfield. Einarsson finished tied for 106
th after shooting 11-over par (83) today and 16-over par overall (230). Maxfield carded 4-over par (76) on the final 18 and 18-over overall (232) to place him in a tie for 113
th.
Competing as an individual on the course was true freshman
Jesper von Reedtz who shot 9-over par (81) on the last day of play to place him in a tie for 116
th. He finished the tournament with a score of 19-over par (233).
The Utes will return to action March 9-10 when they travel to Bandon, Ore. for the Bandon Dunes Championship.
