SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah gymnastics program broke its season average attendance record in the 2020 season, averaging a nation-leading 15,273 fans per meet. The new school record of 15,273 also sets the new NCAA gymnastics record for season average attendance.
The record number tops the previous school attendance record of 15,244, which was also the previous NCAA gymnastics record, set from the 2017 season. It is the third time in school history Utah gymnastics has averaged 15,000-plus fans in a season, joining the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
This season marked Utah's 36th gymnastics attendance title. Utah has also won its 10th all-women's sports attendance title with the 2020 attendance title being the eighth in a row.
Including the three sellout crowds of 15,558 this season in four home meets, the Jon M. Huntsman Center has hosted 30 crowds in excess of 15,000 fans, while seeing 56 crowds in excess of 14,000. Since 2010, the Red Rocks have averaged 14,637 fans.
This season, Utah recorded sellout crowds of 15,558 against Arizona State, Oregon State and Stanford, while the season opener against Kentucky drew 14,417 fans. The four home meets at the Huntsman Center were the four largest gymnastics crowds of the season in the NCAA.
