SALT LAKE CITY – The Ute Academy has announced the names of 18 student-athletes that will make up its first graduating class
Â
A Utah Athletics initiative that began this fall, the Ute Academy aims to enhance the development of student-athletes through community service, leadership, professional advancement and personal well-being. The goal is to assist in the growth of each student-athlete, as they navigate the transition from a student and an athlete, to a contributing member of society.
Â
Student-athletes have the opportunity to participate in two different tracks – red and white – under the umbrella of the Ute Academy. Both tracks focus on the four key pillars: community service, leadership, professional and personal development.
Â
"We are extremely proud of all of our student-athletes who are fulfilling their goal of earning a degree from the University of Utah," said
Mark Harlan, Director of Athletics. "It is also especially gratifying to see our first group of Ute Academy graduates among the Class of 2020, and I want to thank our staff for their incredible work to develop this important program. We look forward to continuing to offer our student-athletes tremendous opportunities provided through the Ute Academy's four pillars of community service, leadership, and professional and personal development."
