Manny, who plays for Archers LC, talks about his preparations for the PLL tournament, which included finding creative ways to work out during coronavirus pandemic. He also looks back at his college career at the University of Massachusetts and his decision to coach under Brian Holman at Utah. Manny also talks at length about the growth of the Ute lacrosse program, which is entering its third year at the NCAA Division I level.
Manny earned first-team All-America honors and was one of five finalists for the Tewaarton Trophy as a junior in 2012 at the University of Massachusetts. He was named the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year and helped lead UMass to an undefeated regular season, a No. 1 national ranking and the CAA Tournament title that season while totaling 77 points. Manny ranks fifth all-time in UMass history with 201 points (107 goals, 94 assists) despite playing with a broken thumb his senior year. Manny led UMass in assists all four seasons from his attack position, while pacing the Minutemen in points from 2010-12 and goals in 2010 and 2012.
Â
During the podcast, Manny talks about the point in his collegiate career when he realized he was good enough to play professionally.
Â
Manny began his professional career in Major League Lacrosse and made the move to the PLL in 2019. Manny is a five-time professional All-Star and led the PLL during its inaugural season with 25 goals and 50 points.
Â
Looking ahead to the upcoming PLL Championship, Manny talks about what he hopes to accomplish during the event. All 20 games of the three-week fanless tournament will be aired live on NBC, NBCSN and streamed on NBC Sports Gold.Â
Â
Manny has been an assistant coach under Holman for the past four years, taking the program from the club level to NCAA Division I. Manny discusses Utah's efforts to join a conference in the coming years and position itself to became a regular participant in the NCAA Tournament. He also talks about Holman's strengths as a head coach and why he is uniquely qualified to build the Utah program into a national power.
