SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The academic performance of Utah's student-athletes continues to be a source of great pride. The 2020 Fall semester saw the 538 students across Utah's 20 intercollegiate sports programs collectively compile a semester grade-point average of 3.39, second-highest in school history behind the Spring 2020 GPA of 3.57.

The 3.39 Fall semester GPA represents a significant increase from the Utes' impressive 3.23 Fall 2019 semester GPA, and extends the department's streak to 29 consecutive semesters with a collective GPA above 3.0.

Every Utah sport program posted a semester GPA of 3.0 or above for the second consecutive semester, a feat that had not been accomplished prior to the Spring of 2020.

"Our incredible student-athletes continue to shine academically, while navigating all of the challenges of the pandemic and continuing to compete at a high level in their sports," said Director of Athletics
Mark Harlan. "I'm very proud of their achievements, and grateful for the leadership of our coaches, who continue to emphasize our students' academic priorities. Our academic support staff and the relationships across our entire university community provide tremendous support for our student-athletes toward their ultimate goal of earning a degree from the University of Utah."

Other Semester Highlights:
- 72 student-athletes earned a perfect semester GPA of 4.00
- 43% earned spring Dean's List honors, most in school history
- 78% made the Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll (3.0+ GPA)
- 85% of all fall semester grades earned were within the A/B range

Program-Specific Highlights
- Women's skiing earned the highest team semester GPA of all sports (3.79), while men's skiing (3.66) posted the highest GPA among Utah's men's sports.
- The gymnastics program has posted a team semester GPA of 3.0 or higher for 51 consecutive semesters.
- Three programs—men's skiing, cross-country and volleyball—have earned a team semester GPA of 3.0 or higher for 25 consecutive semesters
- Two programs—soccer and beach volleyball—earned the highest team semester GPA in program history.

Utah Athletics recently
recognized 18 Fall 2020 graduates after
recognizing 72 for the 2020 Spring semester.
Utah's student-athletes continue to graduate at an exceptionally high level, producing a
94-percent figure for the second consecutive year in the annual NCAA Graduation Success Rate report, released in November of 2020. The 94 percent graduation rate is the second highest in school history, and it is the fourth consecutive year that Utah's score has been over 90 percent.
