All five Utes finish inside the top six after the first 18

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The University of Utah Golf program sits at the top of the leader board at the Pat Hicks Invitational after the team shot 22-under (266) through the first round of play with two more rounds to go on Sunday and Monday.

The Utes score of 266 is the lowest 18-hole score on record at Utah (record book dates back to 1990), beating the previous best of 269 that was set at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in 2019.

INDIVIDUAL BREAKDOWN
Leading the team was junior Blake Tomlinson who is currently tied for first after shooting 7-under (65). The Salt Lake City, Utah, native's score of 65 is the second-lowest of his career after he shot a 64 in 2018, and also ties for the fourth-lowest score in program history.

He led the way with eight birdies, three of which came on consecutive holes (13-15). Not far behind Tomlinson was junior Tristan Mandur and freshmen Javier Barcos and Jesper Von Reedtz, who all tied for third after shooting 5-under (67). The three of them combined for 18 birdies through the first round.

Rounding out the team was senior Mitchell Schow, who is tied for sixth after shooting 4-under par. Schow shot even or birdied eight of the nine on the back nine.

TALKING ABOUT THE ROUND: HEAD COACH GARRETT CLEGG
"The team played well today and it was great that all five of our starting players are currently in the top-six. There is a lot of golf remaining, so there isn't anything to celebrate now, but it was a good first round and a much better way to begin the tournament than last week."

INDIVIDUAL COMPETITORS
The Utes also traveled three players to compete as individuals in the tournament. Redshirt freshman Sam Tidd shot 1-over (73) tying for 31^st among the field with redshirt freshman Oscar Maxfield shooting 3-over (75) to tie for 49^th. Redshirt Freshman Colton Tanner also shot 4-over (76) to tie for 54^th overall.
