Utah Gymnastics Picked As Preseason Favorite To Win Pac-12 Title

Red Rocks top the preseason Pac-12 poll for third-straight year.
SAN FRANCISCO – Utah Gymnastics has been picked to win the Pac-12 title for the third consecutive season by the conference's coaches. The Utes earned first-place votes from each head coach in the league to lead all Pac-12 teams in the preseason poll.
Coming off its second consecutive Pac-12 Championship and third-straight Pac-12 Regular Season Championship, Utah totaled 49 points in the preseason poll. UCLA narrowly edged out California for second place with 41 points, while the Golden Bears tallied 40 points and one first-place vote.
Oregon State (32), Stanford (5), Washington (15), Arizona State (12), and Arizona (10) rounded out the 2023 Pac-12 Preseason Coaches Poll.
Following the 2022 season, Utah owns the most Pac-12 Championships among Pac-12 members since joining the league. The Red Rocks have won a league-best five conference championships (2014, 2015, 2017, 2021, 2022). Additionally, Utah has won every Pac-12 regular season title outright or at least a share of the title since the award began in 2020. Over the past three seasons, Utah is 32-2 against Pac-12 opponents during the regular season and at the Pac-12 Championships.
Utah returns a total of eight All-Pac-12 selections from a year ago, led by Grace McCallum, who collected first team honors on every event and in the all-around last year as a freshman and was the first Ute to do so since the 2018 season. McCallum is the reigning Pac-12 uneven bars and floor champion, while Utah also returns the back-to-back Pac-12 beam champion in Abby Paulson. Senior Maile O'Keefe is also coming off a season that earned her the 2021 Pac-12 Specialist of the Year honor.
Preseason third-ranked Utah opens the season against sixth-ranked LSU on Friday, Jan. 6, at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
