SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah standout gymnasts
Abby Paulson and
Maile O'Keefe have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team.
Recognized as two of the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the competition floor and in the classroom, Paulson and O'Keefe will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in mid-June.
Paulson is a two-time WCGA Scholastic All-American, two-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection, and was Utah's Dahl Academic-Athletic award recipient in 2021. She carries a 3.96 cumulative grade point average and is majoring in Kinesiology.
Paulson is a four-time All-American gymnast on beam heading into her senior season after adding honors in the regular season and at the NCAA Championships to her resume. The Anoka, Minn., native is a back-to-back Pac-12 Beam Champion and is a three-time All-Pac-12 Conference selection. Paulson has hit 98-of-101 career routines for the Utes and has posted 12 career wins, which includes 10 victories on beam and two wins on floor.
O'Keefe, who has earned a 3.59 cumulative grade point average as a Kinesiology major, was a WCGA Scholastic All-American last year. The rising senior is also a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection thus far in her career.
The Las Vegas native is an 11-time All-American after earning four honors during the 2022 season. O'Keefe, who is a two-time national champion (UB, FX – 2021), is also a six-time All-Pac-12 Conference honoree, and was the 2021 Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year and the 2022 Pac-12 Specialist of the Year. She is a four-time Pac-12 champion and six-time Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week. She has hit 132-of-133 career routines as a Red Rock and has earned 45 wins through three seasons. O'Keefe holds the school record for Perfect 10s on beam in a single season and is second all-time in a career.
The District 8 At-Large team recognized 11 student-athletes from a pool of 16 NCAA sports (beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, wrestling and water polo).Â
