INDIANAPOLIS – Utah's athletics programs once again performed among the best in the nation in the both the single-year and multi-year Academic Progress Report (APR) released today by the NCAA for Division I schools. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation of all student-athletes on scholarship, and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
Four of the Utes' sport programs—women's soccer, women's swimming and diving, volleyball, and beach volleyball—earned perfect multi-year marks of 1000.
Â
Nine teams earned perfect 1000 single-year scores for the 2020-21 report: Men's basketball, men's golf, men's skiing, women's soccer, men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving, men's tennis, volleyball, and beach volleyball.
"Today's release of the Academic Progress Rate report continues to tell the story of tremendous achievement in the classroom by our student-athletes, and the commitment by our coaches and staff to create the most supportive environment for academic success," said
Mark Harlan, Director of Athletics. "We are very proud of the way our student-athletes place the highest priority on succeeding academically while pursuing championships and representing the University of Utah in the most positive way in the community."
The volleyball team earned a perfect single-year APR score for the ninth consecutive year and a perfect multi-year score for a sixth straight season, presently the longest streaks among all of Utah's sports programs. In addition, the football team posted its best multi-year APR score of 991 in this year's report.
Â
Since the inception of the program in 2003, 19 different teams have earned at least one perfect score in the single-year report.
