Abby Paulson Named CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-American

Paulson becomes first Red Rock to earn second team honors since 2016.
SALT LAKE CITY – University of Utah gymnast Abby Paulson has earned a spot on the 2021-22 CoSIDA Academic All-America Women's At-Large team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Paulson, a rising senior, was named to the second team.
Paulson is the first Red Rock to earn second team honors since Kailah Delaney in 2016 and becomes the program's 16th selection to a CoSIDA Academic All-America team. Along with Delaney, Paulson joins Kristina Baskett (2008), Molly Northrop (1998), and Kristen Kenoyer (1993) as second-team honorees.
The Anoka, Minn., native carries a 3.96 cumulative grade point average through her three years as a Ute and is majoring in kinesiology. Paulson is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection, as well as a WCGA Scholastic All-American.
The three-event specialist for Utah gymnastics is a four-time All-American on beam with three honors coming in the regular season, while she earned NCAA All-American honors on the apparatus this past spring. She is a three-time All-Pac-12 performer on beam as well, and has claimed the Pac-12 beam title in consecutive seasons (2021, 2022). Paulson has hit 98-101 career routines and has 12 career event victories.
The at-large women's teams for the Academic All-America program include the sports of beach volleyball, bowling, rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, and water polo.
