SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Gymnastics released its 2024 schedule, highlighted by two podium meets over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah. The ESPN Events Invitational, which is the first of the two podium events, will mark Utah's first-ever regular season appearance on ABC.
Utah opens the 2024 season inside the Jon M. Huntsman Center, hosting the Boise State Broncos on Friday, Jan. 5, in Salt Lake City. The Red Rocks stay nearby when they travel to the Maverik Center to compete in the ESPN Events Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 13, followed by the Rio Tinto Best of Utah on Monday, Jan. 15.
The ESPN Events Invitational features three of the four programs from last year's NCAA Final. Joining Utah at the podium event televised on ABC will be reigning national champion Oklahoma, along with LSU and UCLA. Then, the Red Rocks will stay in town to compete at the fifth edition of the Rio Tinto Best of Utah on Monday against in-state foes BYU, Southern Utah, and Utah State to round out the weekend.
Utah will come off a bye weekend ready to host Arizona State and Oregon State consecutive weeks at the Huntsman Center. The Utes and Sun Devils open Pac-12 play on Friday, Jan. 26, while the Utes and Beavers will go head-to-head on Friday, Feb. 2.
Utah leaves the state for the first time of the season when it travels to Seattle to face the Washington Huskies on Saturday, Feb. 10. The Red Rocks stay on the road the following week, traveling to UCLA on President's Day for a matchup on Monday, Feb. 19.
The Red Rocks return to Salt Lake City to host Stanford on Friday, Feb. 23, before another pair of consecutive road meets. Utah wraps up the Pac-12 slate at California (March 2) and Arizona (March 8) before ending the regular season against Utah State on Friday, March 15, for senior night in Salt Lake City.
The postseason kicks off with the Pac-12 Championships at the Maverik Center on Saturday, March 23. The NCAA Regional weekends will run Wednesday, Apr. 3, through Saturday, Apr. 6, at the host sites of Arkansas, Michigan, Florida, and California. The 2024 NCAA Championships will round out the collegiate season beginning with the semifinals on Thursday, Apr. 18, and the final on Saturday, Apr. 20.
Utah returns the nation's reigning all-around and beam national champion in
Maile O'Keefe, who is returning for a fifth year with fellow fifth year seniors
Jaedyn Rucker and
Abby Paulson. The trio of fifth years have combined for 22 All-America awards during their careers. The Red Rocks are coming off their third consecutive third-place finish at the 2023 NCAA Championships, fourth consecutive Pac-12 Regular Season Championship, and third-straight Pac-12 Championship. Utah welcomed a trio of five-star recruits
Elizabeth Gantner,
Camie Winger, and
Ella Zirbes to the team this offseason, along with fellow freshman
Olivia Kennedy and sophomore transfer
Ashley Glynn.
