SAN FRANCISCO – Utah Gymnastics has been picked to win the Pac-12 title for the fourth consecutive season by the conference's coaches. The Utes earned first-place votes from five of the eight head coaches in the league to lead all Pac-12 teams in the preseason poll.
Coming off its third consecutive Pac-12 Championship and fourth-straight Pac-12 Regular Season Championship, Utah totaled 46 points in the preseason poll. UCLA narrowly edged out California for second place with 43 points, while the Golden Bears tallied 40 points.
Oregon State (30), Arizona State (22), Stanford (19), Washington (14), and Arizona (10) rounded out the 2023 Pac-12 Preseason Coaches Poll.
Following the 2023 season, Utah has won the most Pac-12 Championships among Pac-12 members since joining the league. The Red Rocks have won a league-best six conference championships (2014, 2015, 2017, 2021, 2022 and 2023). Utah has won every Pac-12 regular season title outright or at least a share of the title since the award began in 2020. Over the past three seasons, Utah is 44-4 against Pac-12 opponents during the regular season and at the Pac-12 Championships.
Utah returns a pair of All-Pac-12 selections from a year ago, led by
Maile O'Keefe, who collected first-team honors on bars, beam. O'Keefe was named Pac-12 Specialist of the Year for the second time in her career, having won the award in 2021.
Jaedyn Rucker secured All-Pac-12 honors on vault, coming off her national championship in the event as an individual in 2022. Overall, Utah has five gymnasts on this year's roster who have earned All-Pac-12 honors at some point in their careers. Joining O'Keefe and Rucker as all-conference selections in their careers are
Grace McCallum,
Amelie Morgan, and
Abby Paulson.
