Morgan, Zirbes Named To Pac-12 Gymnastics Preseason Watch List

SAN FRANCISCO - University of Utah gymnasts Amelie Morgan and Ella Zirbes have been named to the Pac-12 Gymnastics Preseason Watch List, the conference office announced on Monday. Morgan is slated to begin her junior season in 2024, while Zirbes was named a newcomer to watch with her freshman season quickly approaching.

Morgan carries a streak of 60-60 career routines hit, heading into the 2024 campaign. The Bristol, England, native led on the beam in every meet for the Red Rocks in every competition last season. She posted a season-high 9.925 on beam against California, with a 9.875 or better in seven competitions on the apparatus. Morgan has been steadfast on the bars for the Red Rocks, leading the apparatus in all but two competitions during the 2023 campaign. She scored a season-high 9.925 on bars at the NCAA Regional Second Round. Morgan scored 9.90 on beam and 9.875 on bars at the Pac-12 Championships for the Utes.

Zirbes enters her college career as a two-time national champion, earning the all-around and bars title in 2019 and coming back for the all-around crown once more in 2023. She took first place in the all-around and bars with a second-place finish on vault and floor at the 2019 Junior Olympic National Championships. Zirbes added a first-place finish in the all-around with a second-place finish on the vault, bars, and floor at the 2023 Level 10 Championships.

The Stillwater, Minn., native is an 11-time Region 4 Champion and a 15-time Minnesota state champion. Zirbes made her unofficial debut in the Huntsman Center at Utah's annual Red Rocks Preview.

The fourth-ranked Utah gymnasts open the 2024 campaign against Boise State on Friday, Jan. 5, at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
