INDIANAPOLIS – Fifth-ranked Utah Gymnastics earned an NCAA Regional berth in the Los Angeles Regional this year, heading to Pauley Pavilion as the second seed at the regional site. Utah will begin action in the NCAA Regional Second Round on Thursday, March 30, competing in the afternoon session at 3 p.m. MT.Â
Joining Utah in the afternoon session will be No. 12 Auburn, Southern Utah, and Washington. The evening session at 8 p.m. MT features No. 4 UCLA, No. 13 Missouri, Stanford, and the winner of the play-in round between BYU and Boise State. Â Teams were seeded No. 1-16 based on National Qualifying Scores, while the remaining 20 qualifiers were placed in regions geographically.Â
The top two finishing teams of each session will advance to the NCAA Regional Final on Saturday, April 1, at 6 p.m. MT. Then, the top two finishing teams from the regional final will earn a spot at the 2023 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, on Apr. 13-15.
Utah Gymnastics is competing for a record 47th-consecutive national championship appearance this season. Utah is the only program in the nation to qualify for every national championship. The Red Rocks have won 33 regional titles (30 NCAA) and have finished second the other 13 years.
The Utes are coming off the program's third-straight Pac-12 Championship, marking the first time a team has won three consecutive Pac-12 titles since the league expanded in 2012. The conference title marks Utah's 10th title overall after the Red Rocks have now claimed six Pac-12 Championships and all four Pac-12 Regular Season Championships.
