LOS ANGELES – Fourth-ranked Utah Gymnastics battled the #8 UCLA Bruins in a top-25 matchup for the second time this season, using a late surge on floor and beam to take down the Bruins. In the final regular-season Pac-12 showdown between the two rivals, the Red Rocks came back from a .425 deficit at the midway point after competing on bars and beam, earning a 197.300-196.975 victory.

Utah saw a strong start from their go-to leadoff performer,
Makenna Smith, posting an event-high 9.900 on bars. The pressure was on the Red Rocks lineup after a stumble came in the second spot.
Amelie Morgan added the second-highest score of the event, posting a 9.875 for the third meet in a row. In the anchor spot for Utah,
Grace McCallum scored a 9.850.
Ella Zirbes added a score of 9.800 in the fourth spot of the rotation, while
Maile O'Keefe scored a 9.775 in her first event of the day.

Utah opened the day on bars scoring 49.200, trailing the Bruins by .325 after one event after UCLA scored a 49.525 on vault.

Morgan secured the high score on vault for the Red Rocks in the anchor position, coming up with a 9.900. Utah collected multiple scores of 9.8+ throughout the event, including
Ashley Glynn's 9.850 for the second-highest of the rotation.
Jaedyn Rucker and Smith each added back-to-back scores of 9.825 for the Utah lineup.
Camie Winger started the Red Rocks vault rotation, posting a score of 9.800.

After the second event, UCLA held their largest lead of the day by .425, 98-825-98.400. Â

Utah came alive with their floor performances, capturing four scores of 9.9+. McCallum secured the high score of the event for the Red Rocks with a 9.925.

Jaylene Gilstrap and O'Keefe each added a 9.90 for the Utah effort. For Paulson, it was her fifth consecutive meet earning a score of 9.9+ on floor. Gilstrap executed her third performance for a score of 9.9+

The Red Rocks secured their first lead of the day after their turn on floor, moving ahead of UCLA 147.900-147.700. It was the fifth meet in a row the Red Rocks have put together an event score of 49.500+.

As one of the nation's top beam teams, the Red Rocks secured the win with their best event. O'Keefe drove home the win for Utah with a score of 9.975 in the anchor spot. Before that, Paulson added her sixth score of 9.9+ on the apparatus, earning a score of 9.925.

Utah Gymnastics returns to action in Salt Lake City on Friday, Feb. 23, to host Stanford University, after back-to-back road contests at Washington and UCLA. The Red Rocks and Cardinal will compete in the Jon M. Huntsman Center with introductions set to begin at 5:45 p.m. MT.
