CANMORE, Alberta – Current University of Utah Nordic skier
Sydney Palmer-Leger is among six Utah connections that are anticipated to race on the FIS Cross-Country World Cup circuit in Canmore, Alberta, running from February 9-13.
Palmer-Leger, a native of Park City, Utah, will represent the United States as will former Utes
Mariah Bredal,
Sophia Laukli,
Kevin Bolger,
Samuel Hendry (Canada) and
Luke Jager. Races will be held at the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park.
Men's and women's World Cup races in Canmore include a 15K freestyle mass start (Feb. 9), freestyle sprints (Feb. 10), 20K classic mass start (Feb. 11) and classic sprints (Feb. 13). The Canmore series is the first of back-to-back cross-country World Cup weekends in North America; it'll be followed up in Minneapolis at Theodore Wirth Park on February 17-18.
Friday's 15K freestyle mass start will include Palmer-Leger (bib 35), Bredal (bib 39) and Laukli (bib 14) among the women's field beginning at 10:40 a.m. MT. The men's race is scheduled for a 12:45 p.m. MT start and is expected to include Hendry (bib 40) and Jager (bib 37).
