SALT LAKE CITY – The Red Rocks received a late signee for their 2026 class in Canadian gymnast Leonie Gervais.
The Trois-Rivières native (Quebec) has shown tremendous potential in 2025 and will be joining fellow
Canadian gymnast Gabrielle Black as well as Ayla Miller, and Madison Denlinger for the 2027 college gymnastics season.
"We're excited to welcome another powerhouse Canadian to our program," said head coach
Carly Dockendorf. "Leonie's massive 10.0 start value on vault and dynamic tumbling on floor will bring tremendous depth to those lineups that Red Rocks fans will love. She is an excellent competitor whose international style is both distinctive and compelling."
Gervais has had an impressive rise this year earning a bronze medal with her team and silver individually on vault in February at the WOGA Classic in Texas. Later, at Gymnix International, Gervais earned gold on bars, floor, and the all-around as well as a bronze finish on vault.
April continued the good vibes for Gervais who placed bronze on beam, and the all-around while taking gold on vault and floor at the Provincial Championships. Gervais then went on to take one more gold on vault, a silver on floor, and a fourth-place finish in the all-around at the Canadien Championships in May.
"Dès que je suis arrivée, j'ai senti quelque chose de special," said Gervais about the Red Rocks. "L'équipe, l'ambiance, la façon dont tout le monde se supporte… j'ai tout de suite su que c'était l'équipe dans laquelle je me voyais. Je me suis sentie accueillie, à l'aise, et surtout inspirée. Cette équipe me donne l'énergie de me dépasser, de travailler plus fort, et d'être la meilleure version de moi-même."
"As soon as I arrived, I felt something special," said Gervais about the Red Rocks. "The team, the atmosphere, the way everyone supports each other…I immediately knew that this was the team I saw myself in. I felt welcomed, comfortable, and above all, inspired. This team gives me the energy to surpass myself, to work harder, and to be the best version of myself."
